Omar sisters graduate with honors

Fariha and Noshin Omar made their home islands proud after recently graduating from different universities in the U.S. mainland.
Fariha Omar graduated from Suffolk University with her Master of Science degree in Medical Dosimetry last May 22. She received her bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) in Radiation Therapy in 2020. She was the Service Learning and Community Partnership Fellow for which she facilitated relationships between community organizations and on-campus students and professors.
Over the 16-month MSMD program, she completed 1,000-plus hours of clinical hours at various hospitals in the Greater Boston Area, creating radiation treatment plans for patients battling cancer. She will be joining the medical dosimetry team at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston later this summer. She will take her board exam soon after to gain certification in the field. Fariha Omar graduated Top 10 from Saipan Southern High School class of 2016.
For her part, Noshin Omar graduated from University of Massachusetts Boston with two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (summa cum laude) and a Master of Business Administration through an accelerated Master’s program on May 27, 2022.
Noshin Omar was this year’s recipient of the Dean’s Prize for Graduate Service, which “recognizes a graduate student in the College of Management who has shown outstanding academic performance and community service to the college.
While being a student at UMass Boston, Noshin Omar also worked in the University Advancement department and was involved in alumni and donor relations, and supported fundraising campaigns to raise funds for scholarships and the university food pantry to assist current and future UMass Boston students. She’s also served as an academic peer advisor, volunteered as a tax assistant for low-income families under the Quincy Community Actions Program, and was recognized as a business scholar through the Women Beacons of Business organization. Noshin Omar is now a financial analyst in the College of Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston. Her next goal is to pursue her license to become a certified public accountant. She graduated Top 10 from Saipan Southern High School class of 2017.
Fariha and Noshin Omar thank their parents and the rest of their family for finishing their studies.
