A catering company in the CNMI has committed to provide food worth $2,500 for athletes and teams participating in the triathlon and beach volleyball events of the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 that will be held respectively on Rota and Tinian.
Representatives of the Pacific Mini Games organizing committee recognized their partnership with Kalayaan Catering Inc. during a short ceremony at the catering company’s main office last Wednesday.
This commitment makes the catering company one of the Mini Games’ six “sportsmanship sponsors.”
“As part of the hosts, we are responsible for feeding our athletes and team officials…and also [preparing] accommodation, transportation, so you guys [Kalayaan] are also making this successful as you are part of it, donating a piece of the meal that we’ll be serving on Rota and Tinian, so [thank you],” said Pacific Mini Games Organizing Committee CEO Vicente “Ben” Babauta.
Kalayaan president Eleanor Alinas also expressed her gratitude. “We are really grateful for this opportunity. It is a first-time event and we are so happy to be a part of [CNMI] history. It really is a pleasure and an honor for us…”
Triathlon will be held on Rota where three races will be held— sprint distance and mixed team relay on Day 1 and aquathlon on Day 2. Beach volleyball, meanwhile, will have its consolation matches on Tinian. (Chrystal Marino)
