NMI homeland security delegation talks modernization, partnership with Guam
Dennis Mendiola, special assistant for CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, led a delegation that met with Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense officials last May 4 to discuss modernization initiatives in addition to exploring opportunities for enhanced partnership agreements between the CNMI and Guam. A CNMI delegation led by Dennis Mendiola, special assistant for the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, met with Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense officials last May 4 to discuss modernization initiatives in addition to exploring opportunities for enhanced partnership agreements between the CNMI and Guam.
Mendiola, Emergency Management director Joey Dela Cruz, and Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ chief of staff Wil Castro met with Guam Homeland Security adviser Samantha Brennan, Emergency Medical Dispatch supervisor Paul Rolinski, and other emergency response staff.
“This partnership is important to better protect our residents and homeland against threats as well as how to best recover from manmade or natural disasters. I want to thank and build upon the work of my predecessor, former HSEM special assistant Gerald Guerrero. He set a solid foundation for the Commonwealth with the One Marianas approach to protecting our homeland under the direction of Gov. Torres these past years,” said Mendiola.
Mendiola seeks to modernize emergency communications throughout the Marianas to improve the HSEM’s effort to combat terrorism and targeted violence, enhance cybersecurity, secure ports of entry, and ensuring disaster readiness.
“We are grateful our partnerships with our closest neighbors remain strong and we stand ready to support one another. I look forward to collaborating further on projects such as this, and more,” said Brennan. (PR)
