The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide high school art competition sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. This year’s competition was open to all Guam high schools and featured 30 entries by students from Father Duenas Memorial School, George Washington High School, John F. Kennedy High School, and Simon Sanchez High School.

“I commend our island’s high school students and art instructors for their participation in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. In particular, I congratulate Shaira and her parents, Diana and Arsenio, and her art instructor, Ron Canos on the selection of her artwork and I wish her the best of luck in the national competition,” said Bordallo. “Shaira’s artwork entitled ‘Guam at its Peak’ is an excellent display of her talent, which features historic landmarks and showcases the beauty of our island. I look forward to its prominent display in the U.S. Capitol.” (PR)
