NMI gov’t to celebrate May 2-6 as Public Service Recognition Week
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres has designated the week of May 2-6, 2022, as Public Service Recognition Week to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of all the hardworking and deserving public employees of the CNMI government.
In a proclamation signing yesterday at the Office of the Governor that saw the attendance of many government employees, Torres said the people of the Commonwealth are served every single day by public servants at every level in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.
“These unsung heroes do the work that keeps our Commonwealth working and public employees take not only jobs, but oaths to perform their jobs to the best of their abilities,” states part of the proclamation.
It honors public servants, to include military reserve personnel, police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, customs and conservation officers, doctors, nurses, health care professionals—”and others who risk their lives each day in service to the people of the Commonwealth”—as well as teachers, social workers, administrators, computer technicians, laborers, “and countless other occupations, day in and day out, provide with efficiency and integrity, the diverse services demanded of their government by the people of the Commonwealth.”
“Without these public servants at every level, continuity would be impossible in a democracy that regularly changes its leaders and elected officials,” the proclamation states. (Saipan Tribune)
