The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is inviting the community to celebrate a monthlong series of festivities highlighting National Library Week starting this Saturday, April 2, at the JKPL parking lot.

Saturday’s activity, called the 3rd Annual Community Mobile Information Literacy Fair, signals the start of “National Library Week” and will last from 10am to 2:30pm. Participants will each get a “passport” that they will be stamped at each booth they visit. The first 100 participants who complete their passports will get free popcorn, shave ice, and cotton candy.

National Library Week 2022, which is from April 3 to April 9, is a time to celebrate the nation’s libraries, library workers’ contributions and promote library use and support.

The theme for National Library Week is “Connect with Your Library,” which promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources—in addition to books. Overall, the theme is an invitation for communities to join, visit, or advocate for their local libraries.

The JKPL encourages sponsors to donate to the event, where they are able to receive cash contributions under Educational Tax Credits. Make checks payable to CNMI Treasury or via MUNIS to Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library vendor#100404.

For more information on this event, contact Joeten-Kiyu Public Library at (670) 235-7318 or (670) 287-7316 for coordinator/Bookmobile supervisor Leora Terlaje or library assistant Caitlyn Crisostomo.
