PSS holds first virtual Islandwide STEM Fair for school year
The CNMI Public School System successfully completed its first virtual Islandwide STEM Fair for school year 2021-2022, with the judging collaboration and evaluation conducted last March 9 at the Saipan World Resort. The judging was sponsored by Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair.
The fair named winners in the categories of general science for Kindergarten to Grade 2, general science for grades 3 – 5, general science for grades 6 – 8, general science for grades 9 – 12, high school research, and a paper airplane competition.
The virtual IWSF was publicly launched on Saturday, March 12, 2022, and digital awards were highlighted at 12pm the same day. The top projects arrived from student participants who represented Tinian Elementary School, Sinapalo Elementary School, Mount Carmel School, and Saipan International School. The listing of all winners are shown in the tables below.
On behalf of the IWSF Committee, we gratefully thank all members, teachers, administrators, and parents for supporting their student participants. We also thank Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred Ada, federal programs officer Tim Thornburgh, and senior director of Curriculum & Instruction Jackie Quitugua for their commitment to students’ STEM experiences and opportunities. Special thanks to the Mariana Islands Nature Alliance for providing the “Environmental Awards” for this year’s IWSF.
