Knights, Hilitais 1 draw 1st blood MS boys caging start

Mount Carmel School and Hopwood Middle School debuted with wins after drubbing separate foes at the start of the IT&E Interscholastic Boys Middle School Basketball League 2021-2022 last Wednesday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
The Knights buried Dandan Middle School with an avalanche of points, 27-11, to start their 2021-2022 campaign on the right foot. MCS was led by the 9 points of Leonard Regalado and the 8 points of Kern Han. Kian Helgen paced Dandan with 5 points.
In the other completed game in the Wednesday kickoff, Hopwood Middle School 1 defeated Saipan Community School, 15-10. It was a nip-and-tick first half with the Hiltais only taking a 1-point lead, 9-8, as Paul Lizama made a 3-pointer to end the period’s scoring.
Hopwood went on a scoring spree in the second half to leave SCS biting their dust as three different players scored and only Elijah He managed to put the ball through the hoop for the Guardians. Jerik Javier and Rewilifon Soliman led Hopwood with 4 markers apiece, while He scored 5 points to lead SCS.
Francisco M. Sablan Middle School and Hopwood 2 scored forfeit wins after their opponents Chacha Oceanview Middle School and Saipan International School, respectively, didn’t show up.
IT&E Interscholastic Boys Middle School Basketball League 2021-2022 is being organized by the Public School System Athletic Program with help from the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation.

DMS 11 – Helgen 5, Hefnejas 3, Lagore 2, Paulino 2.
Hopwood 1 15 – Javier 4, Soliman 4, Manauleg 3, Taichan 2, Omelau 2.
