Vizion Insurance won its second game of the season after edging HBR International, 78-73, in their open division game of the Inaugural SCLC Basketball League last Friday at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Gualo Rai.

The win improved the team’s win-loss record to 2-3, while dealing their opponents’ second loss in five games.

Vizion Insurance got off to a strong start with Rodel Pastrana and Ariel Baul pumping 6 points apiece to give the team a 21-15 lead after the first quarter.

Tables were turned in the second quarter though as Jaime Antonio, Jerome Reyes, and Julienne Gotengco scattered 19 points among them as HBR International entered the halftime break with a 43-34 spread.

HBR International’s J.R. Galang and Pastrana were engaged in a dogfight come the third quarter, as both teams played evenly and entered the fourth and final quarter all tied up at 57-all.

The payoff period saw the close battle continue with neither team giving any quarter. In the end, Pastrana finally got some support from Ronald Rueda as the two accounted for all but 5 points of the team’s 21-point fourth quarter to lead Vizion Insurance to the 5-point victory.

Pastrana shone all game long and finished with 23 markers, 2 points more than the 21 logged by teammate Andy Mortos. Gotengco and Galang shared scoring honors for HBR International with 15 points apiece in the loss.

In the second game, Marianas Dental Center wiped the floor clean with Super Tech, 100-50, to level its win-loss count to 2-2, while exacting Super Tech its fourth loss in as many outings.

The third game was called a forfeit in favor of The Game after Team Marianas players failed to show up. The Game and Team Marianas thus find themselves tied in the open division team standings at 3-1.
