45 positions up for grabs this Nov. 8 general election

The position for governor, lieutenant governor, delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives and 42 other government positions, not including those for retention at the Judiciary, are up for grabs in this Nov. 8 general election.
Commonwealth Election Commission administrative officer Robin Sablan said yesterday that the top seats for the coming election is the governor, lieutenant governor, and U.S. delegate.
Both Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) are seeking re-election. Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios is running for governor.

The Attorney General’s position is also up for election. Attorney General Edward Manibusan has yet to announce whether he is seeking re-election or not.
As for the Judiciary, Sablan said they are still verifying as to who among the judges and justices are up for retention.
For the House of Representatives, there are 20 positions. Precincts 1 and 3 will have six slots each; precincts 2, 4, and 5 will each have two positions, and Rota and Tinian will have one each.
For the Senate, two seats are available for each of the three senatorial districts, for a total of six seats up for election.
Sablan said Sen. Paul A. Manglona (Ind-Rota), Karl King-Nabors (R-Tinian), and Edith E. DeLeon Guerrero (D-Saipan) are not for election this year.
There are for four mayoral seats up for contention—Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Northern Islands.
For the municipal council, there are three seats for each of the three senatorial districts, for a total of nine available seats.
For the Board of Education, available seats are one for Tinian and one for Saipan, for a total of two.
Sablan said the terms of BOE members Antonio Borja of Tinian and Andrew Orsini of Saipan are up, while the rest have until 2024.
July 11, 2022, is the first day for the submission of nominating petitions and candidacies, and also the last day to establish residency requirements.
