CEC starts series of voter registration drives for Nov. 8 polls
17,514 registered voters so far as of yesterday

As of yesterday, there were already 17,514 registered voters in the CNMI and the Commonwealth Election Commission wants to boost that number by kicking off a series of voter registration drives for the Nov. 8 general election.
At the November 2020 general election, CEC reported a total of 18,519 registered voters in the Commonwealth.
CEC administrative specialist Ambrosio Joaquin “AJ” Lisua said yesterday that they began the voter registration drive last Saturday at the Tanapag Youth Center, but only six voters registered.
Lisua said they are hoping to get more people to register at the next voter registration this Saturday at the Kagman Community Center, which will take place from 9am to 3pm.
After that, the next registration drive will be at the Carolinian Utt Pavilion in Garapan on Feb. 19 and at the San Vicente Center on Feb. 26, also from 9am to 3pm.
Lisua said they are doing the voter registrations in villages to help those who have problems with transportation and other issues.
Lisua said they will also be doing registration drives on Tinian and Rota, possibly next month.
CEC staff members also visit a house to register upon a voter’s request.
Previously registered voters who have failed to vote in the 2018 and 2020 general elections must re-register to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 8, 2022, election, according to CEC.
