‘Run with the NMI Democrats for good governance’
For the next two weeks, the NMI Democratic Party is accepting nominations of candidates, and letters of intent from any individuals interested in seeking election for any of these public offices: Senate, House of Representatives, mayor of Saipan, and mayor of the Northern Islands.
Nominations and letters of intent for these offices must be received on or before Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022.
Similarly for Tinian and Rota, nominations of candidates, and letters of intent from any individuals interested in seeking election will be accepted for any of these public offices: Senate, House of Representatives, mayor of Tinian, and mayor of Rota. The deadlines for nominations and letters of intent for these offices on Tinian and Rota will be announced at a later time.
All nominations and letters of intent must be submitted to the chairwoman of the Party, Nola Kileleman Hix, via email at chairwoman@nmidems.org.
“We encourage all citizens who feel called to public service, and who share the Democratic Party’s commitment to good governance, to join the movement. Tina Sablan (D-Saipan), who is the Democratic candidate for governor. “There are many ways to contribute to a better community, and running for public office is one. Submit your letter of intent to join the Democratic slate, or nominate someone you believe in and whose candidacy you would support. All nominations and letters of intent timely received by the applicable deadlines will be referred to the party’s Credentials Committee for thorough review. Those individuals deemed by the Credentials Committee as meeting the legal, constitutional, and party’s bylaw requirements will be considered for nomination at the convention of the Democratic Party of the NMI. The convention will be open to the public. The party will endorse the most qualified and electable candidates. Further details about the Convention will be published at a later time.
