Treasures abounded in first Kagman new year swap meet
Some 200 participants descended upon the Kagman Community Center last Saturday, Jan. 22, for the New Year Swap Meet multifamily garage sale.
The five-hour event, sponsored by Precinct 5 Reps. Leila Staffler (D-Saipan) and Richard Lizama (D-Saipan), offered the 16 pre-registered vendors an outdoor marketplace to sell and trade their secondhand housewares and gently-used clothing and accessories.
“Richard and I were thrilled with the turnout we had for the swap meet. We wanted to provide our Precinct 5 community with an opportunity to clear out the old to make way for the new year,” Staffler said. “Thankfully, the pleasant weather allowed us to host an outdoor event where our community could gather safely and responsibly.”
While vendors from Precinct 5 were prioritized, the swap meet was open to vendors from throughout the community. Staffler expressed her appreciation for everyone who made the event a success and said this won’t be the last community event for Precinct 5 on this year’s calendar.
“I’d like to thank all of the volunteers who helped prepare the area for our vendors and shoppers, as well as those who stuck around afterward to help clean up the area,” she said.
