Gas up another 15 cents in less than two weeks

The CNMI saw its second fuel increase of 2022 less than two weeks since the last, with fuel prices up by another 15 cents.
Around 3:30pm yesterday afternoon, Mobil Oil Marianas led the way with a 15-cent increase.
Mobil’s Extra fuel went up from $ 4.96 a gallon to $5.11. Mobil also hiked its Supreme fuel from $5.41 to $5.56 a gallon while its diesel increased from $5.23 a gallon to $5.38.
Shell Marianas has yet to increase its prices as of 5pm press time but both oil companies typically mirror each other’s price changes, so Shell is expected to impose the same increase today.
According to an 18-year-old motorist, he believes this is only the beginning and that fuel prices will only increase from here.
“I’m sure we’ll see another increase before the month’s end. Fuel prices are increasing everywhere, not just here. It’s going to get higher before we see another rollback,” he said.
Another motorist, a 54-year-old male, said the year has just begun and the CNMI can’t catch a break with these back-to-back increases.
“This is ridiculous. We can’t catch a break. We’re seeing gas increase every two weeks. That’s insane. People are barely making it in this economy and gas is just continuously increasing? It’s not right,” he said.
