There is no tsunami threat to Guam or the CNMI from another eruption of an undersea volcano in Tonga.

According to the National Weather Service’s Pacific Tsunami Warning Center Honolulu, sea level readings at Pago Pago harbor in American Samoa registered a wave with an amplitude of 36 cm and the NWS advisory stated that this might be from another explosion of the Tonga volcano. “There are no known earthquakes of significant size to generate this wave,” it added.

According to the NWS advisory, no action is required in Guam and the CNMI anf no tsunami impacts are expected.

The underwater volcano first erupted last Saturday and it reportedly erupted again yesterday. (Saipan Tribune)
