A total of 61 new cases of COVID-19 has boosted the CNMI’s total number of positive cases to 3,453 since March 2020.

In a news release last Wednesday, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. said the 61 new cases were confirmed positive from surveillance and travel testing on Jan. 4: 15 were found through contact tracing, 40 through community testing, and six through travel testing. CHCC said these new cases have been isolated and are being actively monitored.

CHCC reported that as of Jan. 4, there have been 2,523 recoveries and 624 active cases since Oct. 28.

CHCC also reported that as of Jan. 5 there were 11 individuals hospitalized as a result of COVID-19. Of the 11, six are unvaccinated and five vaccinated. Two of the 11 are on a ventilator, and two individuals have been discharged.

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, CHCC asks you to seek care or get tested for COVID-19 early, as you may be eligible to receive monoclonal antibody treatment or other treatments given soon after COVID-19 infection.

For COVID-19 vaccination efforts, CHCC reported that 225 COVID-19 vaccine shots were administered on Jan. 5, bringing the CNMI’s vaccination rate to 95.9%. Registering to receive a vaccine can be done through www.vaccinatecnmi.com.

For COVID-19 testing efforts, CHCC reported that 471 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 4. The testing numbers comprise surveillance and travel testing, but does not include numbers from the Department of Fire & Emergency Medical Services’ antigen testing, said CHCC. Registering to be tested for COVID-19 can be done through https://covidtesting.chcc.health.
