LITERARY NOOK
Pandemic poems
I thought these words written 1,900 years ago seemed quite apropos for air travel in and out of the CNMI and relevant to COVID variant vaccinations and boosters:
“Will either passengers, or patients, find fault and complain, either the one if they be well carried, or the others if well cured? Do they take care for any more than this; the one, that their shipmaster may bring them safe to land, and the others that their physician may effect their recovery ?”
— Marcus Aurelius, Stoic philosopher and Roman emperor from 161 to 180 A.D. (born April 26, 121AD., died March 17, 180 A.D.)
Variants: Out with Old & in with New
Variants: Out with the old and in with the new
SARS-CoV-2 is an RNA virus called COVID 19
how many mutations before this year is through
some easily transmitted some deadly and mean
the numbers with positive test results rise
despite more vaccinations and booster shots
as the latest in COVID variants defies
pandemic death still casts multiple lots
epidemiologists fight daily battles
governments, countries change protocol for travels
as families worldwide fear hearing death’s rattles
which variant statistics and data unravels
to fly or not to fly that is the question
whether tis nobler to follow Dr. Fauci
or false science quack remedy suggestion
and be anti vax anti mask and grouchy
to spread or not to spread COVID is a fairly simple task
social distance: learn the correct way to wear a mask
if new variants mean booster shot strength wanes
get in line for another booster jab in your veins
Don’t let anti vax and anti mask negatives chafe.
For the world, yourself, your loved ones Stay Safe.
