One must take all necessary safety precautions while waiting for one’s COVID-19 test results, according to Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther L. Muña.

“…The number [of positive cases of COVID-19] is increasing …and…what really worries me is when individuals get tested, [go out], and don’t even know that they’re [positive or negative],” said Muña on Wednesday.

She acknowledges that CHCC has been processing many COVID-19 tests of late and that releasing results takes time, but as a precautionary measure, she advised people who have recently gotten tested to do their part in curbing COVID-19 spread and to “act as if you’re positive.”

“We want to stop the spread. …Don’t just go and get tested; get tested and act as if you’re positive so that you don’t go spreading it to other people. What’s happening is totally opposite. People get tested, and then they go out and hang out with family members, and more and more people are identified,” she said.

Muña also affirmed that home quarantine continues to be looked at as an option for COVID-positive individuals in other places globally. In the CNMI, the recent rise in cases and other factors are being taken into consideration. “Is it time to adjust? Maybe”, she said.
