TRAC sets 6th Saipan Duathlon on Jan. 8

The Triathlon Association of the CNMI will start the new year with a run-bike-run event as it hosts its 6th Saipan Duathlon on Jan. 8, 2022.
The 5-kilometer run, 20-km bike, and 2.5-km run will start at Banzai Cliff in Marpi with a 5:30am opening of the transition site and a 6:15am gun start (depending on the sunrise).
The course distance will be uniform for the men’s, women’s, and mixed relay division of the 6th Saipan Duathlon and road bikes, mountain bikes, and fixies are all allowed.
TRAC said there will be prizes and medals for Top 3 male and female individual winners. IT&E is the main sponsor of the 6th Saipan Duathlon.
Early bird registration fees is $20 for individual and $40 for team and registration fees will increase to $25 for individual $50 for team by Jan. 3, 2022. TRAC also reminded everyone that there will be a processing fee upon registration and checkout.
Proceeds from TRAC’s 6th Saipan Duathlon will go to the sport federation’s preparations for the triathlon event of next year Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games that the CNMI will be hosting for the very first time.

TRAC is also reminding those vying for slots in the national team that the tryout for next year’s Pacific Mini Games is tomorrow, Dec. 4, beginning 6am at Paupau Beach. The tryout are open to triathletes who have met five-year residency requirements and must have a U.S. passport.
CNMI off-island athletes must provide proof of participating in a sprint triathlon and by submitting official result in order to be considered for the team. The CNMI national team will be competing for Sprint Tri individual and Sprint Aquathlon (individual and mixed relay) in the Pacific Mini Games next year.
