Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) said over the weekend that the Marianas and other states and territories will continue to receive Federal Emergency Management Agency COVID-19 funding with no local match.

In his e-kilili newsletter, Sablan said that President Joe Biden announced last Wednesday that the 100% federal payments are good through April 1, 2022.

To date, FEMA has obligated $41.12 million to the CNMI for COVID-19 relief, all without any local match required, he said.

“This is the second time President Biden has extended the 100% federal share provision since he was sworn into office last January,” Sablan said.

Last August, Biden announced that no local match will be required for emergency protective measure grants from FEMA in response to COVID-19.
The 100% federal funding was supposed to expire on Sept. 30, 2021. The extension runs through Dec. 31, 2021.
