The Triathlon Association of the CNMI has postponed the 6th IT&E Cross Duathlon and North Trail Run that was originally set this Sunday, Nov. 14, in Marpi.

“Due to the COVID-19 situation, the 6th IT&E Cross Duathlon and Trail Run set for Sunday is postponed indefinitely. A new date will be announced later,” said TRAC in a social media message.

The IT&E Cross Duathlon was supposed to start at 6:30am with a 6-kilometer trail run (Last Command Post/Dumping/Banzai Trail/Banzai Cliff/Last Command Post). It was to be followed by a 12.5-km mountain bike race (Last Command Post/Ayuyu Drive/FEBC/Authobahn Trail/Santa Klaus/Banzai Trail/Banzai Cliff/Last Command Post), before ending with a 2.5-km pathway run from the Last Command Post.

The North Trail Run was supposed to be for individual runners only and the 10.5-km course will have them negotiate the North Trail Loop (Last Command Post/Pathway/Autobahn Trail/Santa Clause Trail/Banzai Trail-Cliff and back to Last Command Post).

Online registration is $10 for individual and $20 for a team consisting of two members only. There is a $2 processing fee for each registration.

TRAC said finisher medals and awards for top duathlon individual and North Trail Run winner will be awarded. There is also absolutely no race-day registration.

Proceeds from the 6th IT&E Cross Duathlon and Trail Run will go to TRAC’s preparations for the triathlon event of the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 and maintenance of the North Trails.

TRAC also reminding those vying for the national team that the next tryouts will be held on Nov. 27 starting 2:30pm at Paupau Beach. The tryout are open to triathletes who have met residency requirements and must have a U.S. passport.
