The Northern Marianas Islands Volleyball Association has put off its King and Queen of the Court Tryout originally set for this Saturday, Nov. 6, in the sand courts of the Crowne Plaza Resort (formerly Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan).
“NMIVA board has decided to postpone the beach volleyball qualifier tournament that was scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6, due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in our community. We have tentatively set the postponement date to a week later, Nov. 13, with the hopes that this outbreak is truly contained,” said NMIVA president Somia Quan.
NMIVA earlier said the tryouts are being organized to help the NMIVA National Teams Committee determine who will compose the CNMI National Beach Volleyball Team for the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 set from June 17 to 25 next year.
“Please don’t forget, to be eligible, you must be 16 and older and must be a U.S. citizen who has had a minimum of five years total residency in the CNMI,” said NMIVA.
Originally set as a two-man beach volleyball tryout, the NMIVA National Teams Committee decided to make it an individual King/Queen of the Court Tryout. To register, go to Google Form. If you have any questions, email nmivolleyball@gmail.com.
NMIVA held its first tryout for the Mini Games national team last Oct. 23 and it saw 14 players show up. They were Dylan Mister, Damian Palacios, M.J., De Belen, Antonio Atalig III, Jermaine Salas, Blake Mister, Simon Necesito, Tyce Mister, Logan Mister, Tyler Wilsey, Bruce Berline, Toni Yamada, Chenny Lizama, Alyssa Pourmonir, Stacy Eno, and Savannah Delos Santos.
