The Tinian leadership and Tinian GOP officers affirmed this week their strong support behind the gubernatorial tandem of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Senate floor leader Vinnie Sablan, citing the tested and proven leadership and their collective commitment toward advancing sustainable economic initiatives for the people of Tinian and the Commonwealth.

“Working in unison with Gov. Torres, the Tinian leadership are united in our joint effort to continue delivering a better life for the people of Tinian. Already the work done by Gov. Torres and the Tinian Republican Party leadership has shown itself in the lives of the families and people of Tinian today,” said Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan.

Senate President Jude Hofschneider expressed the need for strong collaboration and cooperation between the central government and respective municipalities to advance aggressive measures to augment the loss of tourism and to boost economic growth.

“The loss of our tourism requires aggressive economic policies to recover from this devastation. [With] Tinian being the center of economic recovery by way of our ongoing negotiations with the [U.S.] Department of Defense, it is high time that we aggressively work toward building Tinian and the CNMI as a diverse and sustainable economic region in the Pacific,” Hofschneider said. “The commitment of Gov. Torres to these initiatives is evident with the establishment of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors and with the strong partnership that we have with DoD today.”

Sen. Francisco Cruz, chairman of the Tinian Legislative Delegation, echoed the same sentiment.

“I share the same sentiments with the Tinian leadership. We continue to be united to deliver the best services to our residents and the needs of our islands especially during these difficult times exacerbated by multiple super typhoons and the unprecedented pandemic that caused discomforts and hardships to everyone’s daily lives. We continue to stand united with Governor Torres for our people and our Commonwealth,” said Cruz. (PR)
