The Lady Eagles of Grace Christian Academy and Saipan International School’s varsity Lady Geckos (SIS1) continue to flex their muscles over the competition after conclusion of the co-leaders’ respective Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization girls volleyball matches last Tuesday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
GCA outclassed SIS’ Junior Lady Geckos (SIS2) in three sets, 25-10, 25-18, and 15-4; while SIS1 recovered from its first loss of the season-to none other than the Eagles last Thursday-with a sweep over some feisty Lady Ayuyus out of Kagman High School, 25-8, 25-17, and 15-13.
The two frontrunners remain miles ahead in first place with identical records of 10-1. SIS2 fell to a 5-6 slate, while KHS now has four wins with seven defeats.
The season continues tomorrow at 4pm with KHS squaring off against SIS2 on the north end with MHS’ second-ranked varsity crew (9-2) hosting SIS1 on the south end. SSHS, GCA, and MHS2 are all on byes and will be credited with wins due to two teams pulling out of the competition. Six teams remain in the field.
