Trench Tech relocates to Marianas Business Plaza

After its gym burned down back last Wednesday, Trench Tech Purebred Promotions is in the process of rebuilding and has temporarily relocated to the 7th floor of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.
“We want to give a big shout out to Erick Van Der Maas, owner of 360 Restaurant and some adjacent MBP office space, for generously giving us a place to use free of charge for a couple of months while we get back on our feet,” stated Trench Tech president Cuki Alvarez in an email on Monday.
Not much survived the flames other than a pair of wrestling mats, a pair of shin guards, and some weights. Basically anything that was not made out of metal was melted and warped by the flames.
“Although we are saddened by the loss of our gym and equipment, we remain upbeat and determined to move forward. We all remain intact and focused on building back up better and stronger,” added Alvarez.
Alvarez also expressed a deep thanks on behalf of the Trench Tech family to all of the individuals who donated their time to the clean up effort to John Aguon for graciously donating some much-needed sparring equipment.
Aguon is a big mixed martial arts fan that was no longer using his equipment. He donated some pads, mitts, weights, belts, and ropes to the team after hearing about the group’s misfortune. Alvarez is also awaiting some more fight gear that he acquired himself in the coming weeks.
Notably, Alvarez’s main focus is diagnosing the condition of the octagon cage. According to Alvarez the main structure of the cage is still intact. However, the canvas and padding were melted and the fencing was warped by the blaze.
“We are going to disassemble it and see what we can do to repair the cage. The octagon is vital in order for us to hold events, and although I have a full plate in front of me, fixing the cage is my main priority,” said Alvarez over the phone on Tuesday.
As of now the upcoming Rites of Passage 12: Unstoppable MMA event is not cancelled, but has been put on hold until organizers determine whether or not they have everything needed in place to put on a successful show, as scheduled.
Trench Tech may opt to substitute a boxing ring for the next event, but nothing has been confirmed.
ROP 12 is slated for March 16 at the Saipan World Resort.
Moreover, Alvarez is also looking into both short- and long-term plans for the new Trench Tech Gym. He has been shopping around pricing various warehouses as possible locations, but fixing the cage and trying to salvage the upcoming event remain higher on the “too much” to-do list.
Trench Tech’s gym hours and fees will remain the same. Boxercise classes take place from 6pm to 7pm on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays for $25 a month, while MMA Live sessions are scheduled from 7pm to 8pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesdays for $35 a month. Saturday MMA sessions are also taking place from 11am to 2pm for fighters only.
