Rampage bucked an injury to one of its sharpshooters to defeat RNV, while Devil Dog Warriors hardly broke a sweat in posting a lopsided win against Power Builders as the Island-wide Men’s BudLight Basketball League resumed Monday at the Tinian Multi-Purpose Gymnasium.

After matches were cancelled last Friday due to flooding at the venue, Rampage leaned on the hot 3-point shooting of Leo Pascua to turn back RNV, 94-80, in the opener

It was a virtual dogfight in the first half with Rampage taking a 24-23 lead after the first quarter and a 38-36 spread at the half. That all changed though when Pascua got into a zone at the start of third quarter, hitting six triples as Rampage opened up a 75-65 advantage heading onto the fourth quarter.

With RNV unable to stop Pascua’s torrid shooting, it took an unfortunate collision with Rommel Uduando at the 8:23 mark of the fourth to sideline the Rampage gunner. The accidental contact left Pasuca with a large cut on his upper head and Uduando with a laceration on his lower lip and swollen left face.

The rest of Pascua’s teammates seem to have rallied after he was taken by ambulance to the Tinian Health Center, as Rampage closed out RNV the rest of the game for the 14-point win.

Despite not finishing the game, Pascua still led Rampage with a season-high 32 points. Wesley Walker also tossed in 22 points in Rampage’s ninth victory in 11 games. The loss dropped RNV to 4-8. They were led by Uduando’s 24 points.

In the second game, Devil Dog Warriors made mincemeat of Power Builders, 100-35, in what could be the largest point differential in the league’s short history.

Jake Montgomery led a parade of Devil Dog Warriors in double digits with 27 points, while Zjonti Kubinski added 22. The win was the 10th in 12 matches for second-running Devil Dog Warriors. Michael Castro was the lone bright spot for the now 2-9 Power Builders with 21 markers.
