A scheduled meeting of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s board of trustees yesterday was canceled due to Tropical Depression 20W.

The main item on the meeting agenda was to discuss an extension for CHCC’s payment of its outstanding bills to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

The CHCC board last met on Sept. 14 to discuss CHCC’s options on how it will pay its millions owed to CUC. During that meeting, it was learned that, as of Aug. 15, 2021, CHCC owes CUC almost $25 million in utilities and almost $15 million in penalties accrued beginning from when CHCC was incorporated in 2011. During the Sept. 14 meeting, the board assessed different options on how to pay these bills, including but not limited to seeking legislative relief and pursuing an installment plan with CUC.
