The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library hosted a successful Game Day at Your Library last Saturday, Aug. 21, that not only featured media enhanced books and trivia games but also honored the memory of the late JKPL computer programmer Roy D. Rechebei.

Game Day, an annual celebration of games, play, libraries, and learning lasted from 10am to 3pm and featured the following highlights for teens and adults: Magic the Gathering and Prodigy hosted by the Information Technology Center. At the Children of Our Homeland Center (or Children’s Library), children and their families played a variety of the following fun-filled games: Wii Bowling, Media Enhanced Books or AV2, trivia games, and more. As a treat, the Saipan Marianas Alpha Leo Club were celebrity guest readers for Saturday Storytime.

All activities were free and open to the public.

The CNMI Public School System provided meals to go for Saturday’s programs and activities.

“We hosted a successful Game Day on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, in honor and in loving memory of our dear friend Roy Rechebei’s birthday,” said library director Erlinda C. Naputi. “Thank you to Roy’s family for their continued support of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, and for the entire community for being a part of our celebration. Si yu’us ma’ase.”

This year’s Game Day was coordinated by computer programmer Joey Songsong and computer specialist Aldebert Deleon Guerrero. In compliance with safety and health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, all activities followed safety and health measures with social distancing measures. (PR)
