18 ‘competitive’ teams ready to play ball

A total of 18 teams will duke it out for royalty when the King of the Diamond Labor Day Softball Tournament kicks off this Sunday at the Capitol Hill Ballfield.
Roil Soil Marketing owner Shayne Villanueva said the 18 teams are Tokáhåo, Team Asahi, Olei Prim, Alapatiw, Angels, Mwekmwekkid, Kliq, Homies, Pues OK 4 Nate, Comets, Titang, Blazers, Saipal, SUFA, Sofa King Good, Corn Boys, Peneinei, and T Mac 91.
“We have 18 total teams and all are very competitive,” he said.
Aside from the actual softball games, a home run derby and a cornhole tournament will also be held. According to the internet, cornhole is a lawn game wherein players take turns throwing 16-ounce bags of corn kernels at a raised board with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the board scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches or exceeds the score of 21.
“We have 20 [participants] for cornhole and 20 [participants] for the home run derby,” said Villanueva.
Prizes for the King of the Diamond Labor Day Softball Tournament is $1,000 plus a set of 12 uniforms for first place, $750 for second place, $500 for third place, and $350 for fourth place.
