Next Tinian BBB festival in July 2022; Chief Taga Day in October
With the smashing debut of the inaugural Tinian Beef, Beer & Bands Festival, the Tinian leadership has decided to make it an annual event as part of efforts to have more events on its festival calendar to attract visitors throughout the year.
The food festival, which highlighted Tinian’s signature export of beef, joins three other major events on the island and will be held again next summer in July 2022.
Joseph Hocog, who is event coordinator for the Tinian Mayor’s Office, said the inclusion of BBB into Tinian’s festival calendar now means that Tinian has events to highlight the island’s main attractions: Tinian hot peppers, beef, its church, and Chief Taga.
“[BBB] is another event for our visitors to look forward to, participate in, and enjoy our culture, customs, and industries here on Tinian,” said Hocog.
Next up for Tinian in the third week of October this year will be Gineptin Ha’anen Taga Day (Chief Taga Day), or Taga Fest, which was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Hocog, there are no details for now on what will be part of this year’s festivities, as he and Tinian leadership are working through different segments of the festival. Chief Taga Day was last held from Oct. 1 to 6, 2019.
Also on Tinian’s festival calendar is the Tinian Hot Pepper Festival or “Pika Fest” in February, the San Jose Fiesta on the first weekend of May, and Chief Taga Day on the third week of October.
