Agape Christian School will be holding an open co-ed volleyball tournament next week from Aug. 26 to 28 at the Agape Gymnasium along Middle Road in Gualo Rai.

Dubbed the Back-to-School Co-ed Volleyball Tournament, the competition is open to volleyball players 14 years old and above and teams can have as much as 10 players with two female players suiting up inside the court at all times.

Tournament coordinator En Yang Pang said they will be using the men’s net height throughout the duration of the tournament and registration deadline is on Aug. 23 at 9pm. A captain’s meeting will start at 7pm on the same day.

“There must be a minimum of two females on the court at all times. The tournament will start on Thursday the 26th at 6pm and end on Saturday night, probably by 9pm. I am anticipating around 12 teams, but the more the merrier. Depending on the number of teams, we will play round robin or round robin within pools. Eight teams will qualify for the knockout stage, which will be single elimination, until the champions are found,” he said.

Registration fee for Back-to-School Co-ed Volleyball Tournament is $150 per team of a maximum of 10 people. The rules and the registration PDFs are on the Saipan Volley Facebook group, but interested participants could also email Pang at fastswimmer4saipan@gmail.com to obtain a copy of the registration/waiver form. Those interested can also email Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association board member Shawn Davis at smd4839505@gmail.com.
