CGC certifies GCA staff in in suicide intervention training

The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s Community Guidance Center certified last July 31, 2021, 28 employees of Grace Christian Academy in suicide intervention training called “Question, Persuade, and Refer,” or QPR.
QPR is an evidence-based suicide intervention training program that teaches participants how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
Since 2018, the CGC QPR trainers have certified 1,088 individuals in the CNMI (864 from Saipan, 97 from Tinian, and 127 from Rota).
The training session was facilitated by Mia Jones and was made possible with support from the Garrett Lee Smith Youth Suicide Prevention Program grant administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
