Your favorite Hawaiian and Japanese dish-in-a-bowl has moved to the FISG Building across the American Memorial Park in Garapan.

Poki-Yaki owner Thorn Sablan said they moved to the new location only last July 7.

“We relocated because we just wanted to offer more convenience to our customers,” he said.

Since moving to their new digs, Poki-Yaki appears to have succeeded in increasing their clientele with the more accessible location. “Business has been going good. We are looking forward to foot traffic with tourists in the future.”

While its popular build-your-own poki continues to be a hit, Sablan said they have introduced new items to its old menu.

“For the most part, our menu is still the same but we do have lunch specials available. One of them is our spicy tuna inari. It’s tofu pockets filled with seasoned sushi rice, spicy tuna, spicy mayo, and garnished with green onions,” he said.

When it comes to bestsellers, Poki-Yaki has identified two runaway winners so far. “The California bowl has been a local favorite since we opened. Our açaí bowls have definitely become one of our top items within the past year,” said Sablan.

While Poki-Yaki has enjoyed brisk sales since their relocation, Sablan said they’re not fully operational yet as they are currently only open during lunchtime. “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only open for lunch instead of our usual lunch and dinner time and our Saturday lunch as well. Hopefully we will resume our Saturday hours soon.”

Poki-Yaki also recently became a Northern Marianas College ProaPerks Partner, where all card-carrying members of the NMC ProaPerks program can now receive a 10% discount on any food and/or drink purchase at the establishment.

“Thank you all for your continuing support during these unprecedented times. We are happy to be serving you all!” said Sablan.

Poki-Yaki opened in Gualo Rai in August 2017 as a standalone poki and teriyaki establishment. It is open from Monday to Friday at 11am-2pm. They can be reached at 233-YAKI (9254) and their lines are open starting at 10:30am for preorders or pick-up orders.
