Torres says GOP blessed to have Sen. Sablan
Governor still mum whether Sablan will be his running mate in 2022 elections

Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres said Friday that the CNMI Republican Party is blessed to welcome to its fold Senate floor leader Vinnie Vinson F. Sablan, who is formerly an independent candidate.
When asked during a radio press briefing about Sablan’s recent decision to join the GOP, Torres said Sablan has always been a statesman and has done great work in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“And he’s a man with integrity. I mean, there’s so many good characters that Sen. Vinnie has. We’re very blessed as a party to receive him and to welcome him to the GOP party,” the governor said.
Rumors has it that Sablan will be Torres’ running mate in the 2022 general elections but Torres remains mum about this.
The governor said he is sure that the senator will do great things for not just the GOP but for the entire Commonwealth. “And so I want to personally thank him for wanting to join the party. And I know and I can speak on behalf of the GOP that we’ve always had a good working relationship,” he said.
Sablan
Torres said he would imagine that he will have an even better working relationship with Sablan in the years ahead.
Last Wednesday, the Republican Party announced that Sablan has been accepted to become a member of the longest serving party in the CNMI.
CNMI GOP president James Ada said that Sablan has shown throughout his years of service in both the House and the Senate an interest and skill in successfully reaching across party lines, establishing proactive relationships built on common goals, and seeking policies that will benefit the lives of all those who call the CNMI home.
Aside from serving as Senate floor leader, Sablan chairs the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation. He previously served as a representative of Precinct 4 for two terms.
