BREAKING NEWS: Another traveler tests positive

The CNMI’s total COVID-19 cases rose to 188 yesterday when the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and the COVID-19 Task Force said a traveler tested positive via travel screening and confirmed diagnosis through fifth-day testing last July 17.

CHCC said the individual has been moved to the designated isolation area at the Kanoa Resort alternate care site for close monitoring. The CHCC Communicable Disease Investigation/Inspection team has initiated contact tracing for contacts with the highest risk of exposure.

Out of the 188 total COVID-19 cases in the CNMI, 151 were identified by travel screening while 37 were local transmissions.

CHCC added that based on what they know about vaccines for other diseases and early data from clinical trials, experts believe that getting a COVID-19 vaccine also helps keep you and your loved ones from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.
