An accredited veterans service officer from the Veterans Benefits Administration office in Guam is on Saipan from July 19 to 22 at the CNMI Office of Veterans Affairs office at 1364 Anatahan Drive on Capital Hill to see veterans by appointment from 8am to 4pm on all days to answer questions about benefits, assist with benefits and compensation claims processes, and other related needs. Veterans interested in scheduling an appointment with the VSO can do so by calling Bernadita Dela Cruz at 670-664-2650 or 670-664-2651.

In a phone call with CNMI Office of Veterans Affairs executive officer Stanley T. Iakopo on Monday, it was learned that Kalani Echang from the VBA office in Guam is conducting the outreach, and that the VBA Guam office works under the Veterans Affairs Regional Office in Honolulu, Hawaii. Iakopo also mentioned that another series of outreaches have tentative dates of Aug. 23 and 24 for Saipan; Aug. 25 for Tinian; and Aug. 27 for Rota.

Iakopo said that Echang’s visit and the outreaches in August are the first of many things in the pipeline that he hopes will culminate with his staff members receiving the training to become accredited VSOs.
