US House Subcommittee OKs Kilili bill that asks for $391,500 for Rota dialysis project
The U.S. House Appropriations Agriculture Financial Services Subcommittees approved Fiscal Year 2022 bills this week that include Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan’s (Ind-MP) request for $391,500 funding for the Rota dialysis expansion project.
Sablan said in his e-kilili newsletter over the weekend that his request for the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Peritoneal Dialysis Expansion Project was included in the FY 2022 Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA Appropriations bill.
“This project will expand home dialysis for individuals [on] Rota, allowing them to stay at home instead of relocating to Saipan to obtain treatment,” he said.
The $391,500 funding for Rota dialysis expansion is part of his $2.3-million community funding requests that the House Appropriations Agriculture Financial Services Subcommittees approved in its FY 2022 legislations.
Sablan said his community funding requests include the $952,394 for small businesses and $980,639 for health Information Technology upgrades.
Sablan said that creating a Small Business Development Center Business Innovation Incubator at the Northern Marianas College will foster small business innovation throughout the Marianas. It will be based on Saipan
Sablan said his request for the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. will fund health IT upgrades to improve interoperability between islands.
“The project will improve interisland connectivity by upgrading the phone systems, facilitating central patient storage, ensuring higher utilization of telehealth, and reducing unnecessary off-island travel,” Sablan said.
He said the remaining subcommittees will mark up their respective bills in July before heading to the full Appropriations Committee for consideration.
