The Northern Marianas Sports Association would like to inform the public of the closure of the inner field at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility from June 14 to 18.
The facility will be off limits to the public on the said dates to give way to the construction of a stage that will be used for the launching of the CNMI’s hosting of the 2022 Pacific Mini Games.
“We ask for the public’s cooperation with the inner field closure, as we want to keep everyone safe while construction of the stage is ongoing. For runners and walkers using the track oval, please proceed with extra caution,” NMSA executive director Carline Sablan said.
She added that the entire track and field facility will be closed on June 17 for the launch ceremony, which will also mark the one-year countdown to the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games that will be held from June 17 to 25 in 2022
The Northern Marianas will be hosting the quadrennial competition for the first time and the event will feature nine sports—athletics, badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, golf, tennis, triathlon, weightlifting, and va’a. As of June 1, more than 1,600 athletes and officials from 17 Pacific island-countries have confirmed participation at the regional sporting event.
The public is invited to attend the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 launch ceremony and one-year countdown on June 17 at 4:30pm at Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility. The event will also be live streamed on Facebook. (PR)
