2 new COVID-19 cases
The CNMI recorded two fresh cases of COVID-19 after two passengers tested positive for the coronavirus yesterday. This brings the islands’ total COVID-19 cases to 183 cases since March 28, 2020.
The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. said the two individuals were identified by travel screening and confirmed diagnosis through fifth-day testing on May 26, 2021, and testing on arrival on May 27, 2021.
The two individuals have been moved to the designated isolation area at the Kanoa Resort Alternate Care Site for close monitoring.
The CHCC Communicable Disease Investigation/Inspection team has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed cases, including passengers on the same flight.
Out of the 183 total COVID-19 cases, CHCC said 147 were identified by travel screening while 36 were local transmissions—11 from community-based tracing and 16 from contact tracing.
