Krishnan shines in SGA April Ace

Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan F&B director Das Krishnan won the Saipan Golfers Association April Ace of the Month Tournament after shooting a net score of 62 last April 18 at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.
Krishnan fired a 36 in the front nine and 38 in the back nine for a gross score of 74, which after his 12 handicap, gave him the score to beat in last month’s monthly tournament.
Rick Kautz actually finished tied with Krishnan with a net score of 62, but he lost in a scorecard tiebreak. Kautz came away with a gross of 76 after matching Krishnan’s 36 in the front nine and a 40 in the back nine for the 14-handicap golfer.
John “Nanni” Cruz and Steve Balakrishna came in with identical 71s, but the former took third place via scorecard tiebreak. Cruz clubbed a 45 and 43 for an 88 gross, which minus his 17 handicap, gave him a 71 net. The 9-handicap Balakrishna, for his part, came away with a 42 and a 38 for a gross of 80.
In the closest to the pin competition, Alex Tudela was without peer in hole No. 6, Balakrishna won hole No. 8, while Ed Sablan and Krishnan topped holes No. 12 and 15, respectively.
In the longest drive competition, Cruz drove it the farthest in hole No. 7, while Juan Pan Guerrero brought the lumber in hole No. 11.
SGA’s May Ace of the Month Tournament will be played at Laolao Bay Golf and Resort this Sunday, May 16. Tee time is at 9am with a show time of 8:30am.
