There is a high risk of rip currents on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota along east facing reefs through Thursday night.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, life-threatening rip currents will be present in east facing reefs of the Marianas until tonight.

Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Residents of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are advised to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don’t swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline, then head in to shore when you are out of the current. (PR)
