Marianas High School’s music program held a musical tribute to the school’s graduating class and its two vice principals last Tuesday and yesterday at the MHS cafeteria, under the guidance of music teacher Gina Aguilar.

Called “A Music Tribute for the Class of 2021 and Honoring Vice Principals Mrs. Rdiall and Mr. Orsini,” the event featured the MHS Chorale, seven singing cohorts made up of students from Aguilar’s four Music class periods, an orchestra, the MHS Dolphin Band, and the MHS Concert Band.

The Chorale performed a traditional worship song, Sing O Heavens, and I’ll Be There by The Jackson 5, while some highlights from the event’s multiple cohorts include Best Friend by Rex Orange County, Viva La Vida by Coldplay, and Stand by Me by Ben King.

The student orchestra played Por Una Cabeza and City of Stars from the movie La La Land, while the Dolphin Band played favorites like Ride by Twenty One Pilots and Rewrite the Stars by Anne-Marie & James Arthur.

The MHS Concert Band performed three of their best pieces: Afterburn by Randall D. Standridge, music from Pixar’s The Incredibles, and Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

In his closing remarks, MHS vice principal Romolo Orsini wished for MHS’ senior class to follow their passions and to remain authentic and genuine as they go through the next phases of their lives.

“I am just so humbled by the talent that each and every one of our students possess, and moreso I would really like to encourage their parents, families, and their teachers to really bring them up. Our [students] have the capacity to really make a difference in the world and whether that be through art or regular classes, they’re the change we really are looking for and they’re really doing it now,” said Orsini.
