Ohala Foundation to hold donation drive on Saipan
The Ohala Foundation will be conducting a roadside collection on May 7 and 8 at the San Jose intersection (Atkins Kroll Saipan) in order to raise money to create food boxes for those in need on the Island of Rota. The foundation will also be accepting gently used clothing, canned, and packaged foods and drinks at the pavilion closest to the intersection.
“We recently returned from the island of Rota and met with their leadership and members of the community down there. The struggle that the people [on] Tinian and Saipan are feeling are echoed down [on] Rota on a deeper level, thus the Ohala Foundation and its Warriors (volunteers) and Angels (supporters) are going to come together and collect as many resources as we can for our brothers and sisters [on] Rota,” said foundation chair Phillip Mendiola-Long.
Motorists are advised to be aware of the Ohala volunteers as they work to collect funds and organize dropped donations of clothes and food.
The Ohala Foundation has provided assistance to over 400 families on Tinian, are currently preparing to begin services on Rota , and eventually the island of Saipan for people that are facing food shortages
