Marianas Racing Association joined the 2021 Island-wide Cleanup last Saturday.
More than 25 MRA members and officials walked their way from the CowTown Raceway Park to the Marpi Landfill and picked up trash and debris along the way that were either dumped illegally or blown down by storms. The group was able to retrieve a couple of hundred pounds of garbage along the road side and several yards deep into the jungle as well.
MRA president Charles Cepeda commended their members for spending their morning in Marpi and participating in the cleanup drive.
“We encourage everyone in the CNMI to do their part in keeping our island clean and to put a stop to illegal dumping and littering,” Cepeda added.
Cepeda and MRA track marshal and race facilitator Bridget Camacho scheduled the cleanup last week Saturday, which was a perfect time as the next day was the Round 4 of the MRA Point Race Season. Fans and everyone else were welcomed to a nice and clean road and track on race day.
After MRA members and officials picked up trash, they returned to Cowtown to prepare and continue work at the track and set up tires and barricades for the new pit area and around the facility. (PR)
