Shirley’s Football Club is holding on tight to its No. 1 ranking in Division B with a win-loss record of 6-2 over halfway through the M-League Spring 2021 season.

With just six games remaining, Shirley’s still runs the risk of losing its current standing and its chance at an outright spot in the finals, with just a one-win advantage over Bangladesh FC after triumphing in its match last weekend. Bangladesh FC holds a win-loss record of 5-2 with one draw. Also vying for an automatic seat to the finals is Saipan United with a win-loss record of 5-3.

In its match against Saipan United, Shirley’s edged its foe with a 4-2 victory behind Dhiraj Chhetri, Guang Zhi Jin, Jack Phan, and Ho Jin Woo who made one goal apiece.

Chhetri took the lead for Shirley’s with a goal in the 7th minute followed by a goal from Jin to put Shirley’s in the lead.

Saipan United’s Ichiro Borja brought the game to a 2-2 tie in the 25th minute but Phan broke that tie with his goal in the 44th minute. Shirely’s Woo solidified its win in the final 8 minutes of the match.

DIVISION A
TanHoldings 2, Paire 1

Meanwhile, TanHoldings remains Division A’s top team after besting Paire 1.

TanHoldings’ Michiteru Mita and Joshua Waldo landed a goal each to bring the team to victory in the last 30 minutes of the match.

Kanoa 1, U18 Team B 0
Kanoa’s John Guiller Canape carried the team to victory after landing the only goal of the game in the first 10 minutes.

The One 2, Old B Bank 1
The One’s Timothy Tawanpiy brought the game to a tie in the 49th minute after teammate Jin Koo Cho scored a goal for the opposite team. However, Old B Bank’s Taro Goto broke the tie when he scored in the opposite goal in the 75th minute.

U18 Team A 0, MP United 0
Boys National Team A still holds the No. 2 spot in the division standings with a win-loss record of 4-0 with 4 draw matches.

DIVISION B
Bangladesh FC 5, Women’s National Team 0

Bangladesh FC hammered the Women’s National Team behind Soheal Akanda and Titu Ahmed who landed two goals apiece with contribution from Mohammed Ariful Hossain who added 1 goal.

Island Star 2, Matansa 1
Island Star’s Feng Yu and Den Deric Ibarra led the way to victory 80 minutes into the match despite Matansa holding the lead after a goal from Gabriel Arkoh who landed a goal in the 68th minute.

With back-to-back goals from Yu and Ibarra in the 8th and 84th minute respectively, Island Star managed to bring its win-loss record up to 2-6.
