Hitler arrested anew for vehicular theft

Hitler Weilbacher, whose previous vehicular theft case was dismissed with prejudice, was arrested again for allegedly stealing three vehicles back in February.
Hitler, 24, is accused of stealing three vehicles and driving without a license back in February.
Back in February 2020, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho, dismissed with prejudice the theft of vehicle and assaulting a police officer charges against Weilbacher after a mental health evaluation found him incompetent to stand trial.
However, at around 10am on Feb. 23, 2021, a woman reported a theft of vehicle incident at Winner’s Laundry in Garapan.
She told police that her orange Toyota Tacoma had been stolen. Police later spotted the vehicle in Chalan Kiya where a felony stop was conducted. Police identified Weilbacher as the operator of the stolen vehicle and he was arrested.
Two other stolen vehicle incidents were reported to DPS on April 10 and 20, with Weilbacher as the suspect in both cases.
During a bail hearing last Wednesday, Camacho imposed a $5,000 cash bail on Weilbacher.
Weilbacher’s counsel, assistant public defender Veena Seelam, asked the court to release the defendant on his own recognizance. Camacho later denied this, stating that someone has to watch the defendant if he’s released.
In addition, Camacho instructed Seelam to notify Weilbacher’s parents that their son is in custody of the Department of Corrections.
The judge told Weilbacher to return to court on April 28 for a preliminary hearing and on April 29 for an arraignment.
According to Saipan Tribune archives, police arrested Weilbacher back in November 2017, shortly after he allegedly stole a Toyota 4-Runner from a parking lot of a store on Capital Hill.
Police also arrested him last in June of 2017 at Hopwood Middle School in Chalan Piao, where a stolen Toyota Highlander was recovered and later returned to the owner.
