KHS Class of 2006 cleans up Pau Pau Beach

Ashley Reiko Pangelinan, owner of Pualani Crown and Free in Saipan and lead organizer for her class reunion party, was joined by nine of her fellow Kagman High School alumni in a cleanup of Pau Pau Beach last Saturday.
With the help of gloves and large trash bags donated by the Young Gunz Motorcycle Club, the KHS Class of 2006 collected seven bags’ worth of cigarette butts, microplastics, and other litter on Saturday morning.
The beach cleanup was also registered as a part of the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality’s Environmental Awareness Month islandwide cleanup event. “We [already had plans] to do a beach cleanup and then all of a sudden we saw a pop up of BECQ doing an islandwide [cleanup] weeks later, so why not register with them, and have our class be with them too?” said Pangelinan.
She thanked her classmates for coming and was pleasantly surprised with the turnout. She also thanked Young Gunz Motorcycle Club for the trash bags and gloves and BECQ for allowing them to join in the islandwide cleanup efforts. She encourages every high school graduate to stay active and aware of the environment.
The KHS Class of 2006 will hold a fundraising garage sale and bake sale at the Garapan Fishing Base across Kristo Rai Church on May 1 at 7am. They will have a tent and a banner. Sales will go to their official class reunion that is scheduled for Oct. 9.
