PSS honors its administrative professionals
The Public School System and the Board of Education honored the school district’s administrative personnel last Friday in an activity that gathered all of Saipan, Tinian and Rota public schools and central office front-line office workers in one celebration.
Facilitated by the PSS’ Human Resources Office led by director Lucretia B. Deleon Guerrero and Finance and Budget Office led by director Arlene Lizama, the 2021 Administrative Professionals Professional Development activity was held at the Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan.
This was the first time that a state-wide activity was held to honor the “backbone” of the school district. Administrative Professionals Day used to be celebrated individually at the school level.
“It is your organizational skills and commitment in ensuring the day-to-day operations of our 20 elementary, middle and high schools on Saipan, Tinian and Rota, and our PSS Central Office are running efficiently and effectively,” said Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred B. Ada in his impromptu remarks honoring the more than 80 administrative personnel in attendance. “You all are a key part in the overall success of our school district.”
Board of Education chair Andrew L. Orsini praised these men and women as the “critical component” that ensures every “child that attends PSS receives the quality education that they deserve.”
‘”You are all incredible, hard working professionals that we couldn’t thank enough for your service to the children of this Commonwealth,” Orsini said.
A Professional Development Program was held to serve as a “refresher” to all of PSS’ administrative professionals. They include ”Time and Attendance,” and Policy and Procedures on Certification, Overtime and Compensation Time. These series of essential topics were jointly presented by the PSS HRO and Finance and Budget Office,
PSS legal counsel Tiberius Mocanu also held a question-and-answer with the staff.
Donald San Nicolas, the 2021 State Support Staff of the Year, delivered the closing remarks. (PSS)
