All is set for Saipan Unity Lions Club’s 5th Mountain and Road Bike Race Event this Sunday, April 25.

Race director Willy Barbo said so far 99 have registered for the race which proceeds will go directly to the various community service programs of the SULC.

He said aside from the original 35-kilometer course and the 20-kilometer short course, SULC had added a beginners’ course that will only be 18 kilometers long and is entirely flat.

The beginners course will also start at Banzai Cliff and will have newbie bikers proceed to Mobil Tanapag and back to the starting line for the finish.

As a recap, the 35-kilometer course will start at Banzai Cliff before proceeding to Suicide Cliff, Bird Island Lookout, the Grotto before returning to Banzai Cliff.

The shorter course, meanwhile, is 20 kilometers and will have its starting line at Mobil Tanapag before proceeding to Bird Island Lookout and then to Banzai Cliff before reverting back to Mobil Tanapag for the finish line. Go time for all races is between 6:15am and 6:30am.

The mountain, beginners, and road races will each have two divisions—men and women—and the Top 3 for each category will get medals. Registration fee is $20 and the deadline was yesterday, April 22. The race fee includes a free T-shirt and payments can be made through PayPal.
