Fire engulfs vehicle in Finasisu
A fire engulfed a vehicle at Cool Laundry in Finasisu during the early hours of Saturday and the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services is still trying to determine the cause of the fire. There were no reported injuries or fatalities as a result of the fire.
According to a report from DFEMS spokesperson Robert Mojica, the Department of Public Safety reported at approximately 4:58am last Saturday, April 17, a vehicle fire on Tun Joaquin Doi Road by Cool Laundry in Finasisu. DFEMS’ Engine 1 and Rescue 1 responded to the location at 5:03am, with Rescue 1 arriving on scene first at 5:10 am.
Firefighter III Robert Camacho, who arrived on Rescue 1, stated that the vehicle was fully engulfed when he got there. The fire was placed under control at 5:43am.
The DFEMS report did not indicate the type and make of the vehicle.
The Division of Fire Prevention Arson Investigation, led by Firefighter III Lorenzo Deleon Guerrero, said that the fire is still under investigation and more information will be given out as they become available.
The incident is the second of its kind in 2021. Last March 10, DFEMS responded to a vehicle fire on Capital Hill just below the turn to Medicaid.
At around 11am on March 10, DFEMS Engine 2 and Medic-2 from the Garapan Fire Station were dispatched to the location. Engine 2 arrived on scene at around 11:12am and the fire was reported under control at 11:17am.
No individuals were injured and no treatment was provided at the scene for medical complaints in relation to the fire.
Preliminary investigation by the Division of Arson Investigation revealed that the fire got started in the car’s engine compartment.
